DESTINED FOR GREATNESS (D4G) Center

 

Mission Statement: "To provide STEM education to low-income areas that will help students learn additional skills that will make them successfully increase the pool of students choosing to pursue science, technology, engineering, and math careers. The educational mentorship and training will include middle and high school students below the poverty level, students of color, and urban students.

The way to increase the number of students opting into Science, Technology, English, and Mathematics (STEM) advanced education to students in the communities. We bring in experts exposed the children to agriculture, masonry, computer technology, welding, financial basics, home economics, culinary, cosmetology, auto mechanic and bodywork, and etc. English and Mathematics wing will be equipped with all needed textbooks, equipment, and supplies to ensure a proper learning environment.

The STEM room will have a laptop computer and internet.

Students don't have the opportunity to discover different areas of specialties. This will provide the available resources and training needed to prepare students for real world jobs and careers.

Plans will include help from federal and local government, K-12 Education, higher education, community partners, business partners, and local and national philanthropy.

To provide mentorship and counseling:

 

The mentor may share with a mentee (or protege):

  1. Provide information about his or her career path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling.

  2. Help direct his or her set goals, develop contacts, and identify resources.

  3. Established structure programs that have specific expectations and guidelines

 

The Mentor:

  1. develop mutual trust and respect;

  2. maintain confidentiality;

  3. listen to both to what is being said and how it is being said;

  4. help the mentee solve his or her problem.
